Family Divorce Mediation

Mediation is a confidential process in which parents work to reach agreements about custody, parenting time, and other parenting-related issues.  The mediator is a neutral who helps facilitate the conversation between parents, but who does not have any decision-making authority.

Mediation leaves the decision power in the hands of both parties, while the Mediator acts as a catalyst between opposing interests. They support the negotiation process by defining issues and eliminating obstacles to communication.

Types of Mediation Services that I offer

Divorce Mediation: Settle the terms of your divorce that relates to family dynamics and child related questions or concerns. Topics that might come up are: child custody, parenting time, child support/maintenance, extra curricular activities, decisions around school,  co-parenting issues, communication and more.

Post-decree Mediation: Change and differing in parenting decisions are inevitable with divorce and co-parenting.  Post-decree mediation allows you to address any issues that may come up after the court order has been placed.

Benefits of Mediation

Expense:  Mediation services are much less expensive than litigation, which will contribute to a reduction of stress levels for both parties.

Control:  Mediation keeps the control in your hands, rather then giving the power to someone else e.g. a Parenting Consultant, Parenting Time Expediter or Judge.  Both parties drive negotiations, giving them the responsibility to resolve the issues.  The final decisions might not be exactly how you would like them to be, but getting it close to what you're hoping for and moving forward successfully, typically comes when both parties are a part of decision making.

Efficiency:  Mediation is an informal process that is not restricted by rules of procedure.  As a result, the parties can resolve important issues at their own pace.

Convenience:  Mediation proceedings do not have to take place in a courtroom.  Typically, the parties get to choose when and where a mediation session will take place.
