Parenting Consulting
A Parenting Consultant helps with parenting issues that come up after a divorce proceeding. Parenting Consulting essentially has three functions - negotiation, coaching and arbitration of parenting issues. I believe that nobody understands a child as well as their parent, and I strongly feel it's in the best interest of the family as a whole if the parents can come to a mutual understanding and agreement together. My role as a Parenting Consultant is to help support and coach parents through those negotiations as needed. If the parents find they are at a standstill with a decision, the Parenting Consultant has the authority to make a final decision, which is binding in the court of law. The scope of authority for the Parenting Consultant is determined on a case-by-case basis and is set forth in the Court Order appointing the Parenting Consultant.

Benefits of Parenting Consulting
A Parenting Consultant supports the parents from an objective standpoint and provides resources and tools that bring structure to the common goals they have for their children.
When parents find they are at a standstill and are unable to come to an agreement the Parenting Consultant has the authority to make a binding decision. As overwhelming as this may sound, it allows for forward movement for both parents and the children.
